In the tech world, growth isn’t just about moving up – it is about continuous learning, collaboration and shaping the future of your field. Ivelina’s story is a powerful example of that. As a woman in tech, she has overcome many stereotypes to become a leader at Mobile Wave Solutions, and we sat down with her to learn more about her story.
Beginnings
Ivelina’s journey did not begin in tech – quite the opposite. Working as a cashier, handling invoices for customers, Ivelina didn’t take the traditional programming route. “I was attracted to roles that allowed me to interact directly with customers”, Ivelina recalls, “I take pride in resolving their issues quickly and creating a positive impression”. Deciding to move back home to Bulgaria in 2018, Ivelina was then faced with the next step of her career.
Finding Mobile Wave Solutions
Having decided on moving back home, Ivelina quickly became aware of MWS. “The company stood out because of its strong reputation for continuous innovation and emphasis on employee growth”, Ivelina explains. Once she heard that we were rolling out new QA initiatives, she knew it would be the “perfect environment” to deepen her expertise. She describes it as “a rewarding journey ever since”.
The Journey To QA & Beyond
As one can imagine, the start was not always easy. However, Ivelina showed her determination by proactively expanding her skillset through courses in automation testing, JavaScript, and core QA fundamentals, quickly working her through different technologies. As she puts it, “QA is an ongoing process. There’s always something new to master”.
With her strong work ethic, natural curiosity and passion for creating positive experiences, Ivelina worked hard to gather four years of experience in web & mobile entertaining testing. She has become a go-to specialist in end-to-end QA, supporting every stage from initial development to post-release maintenance and client support.
Her sharp insights and contributions to task planning and execution earnt her a deserved promotion to Team Lead Deputy. Here, she is involved in day-to-day communication with her team and clients alike, fulfilling her aims prior to joining MWS.
Encountering Stereotypes & Being A Woman In Tech
Like many women in tech, Ivelina’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. “There were times early on when my input wasn’t taken seriously”, she says, “Some saw QA as ‘less technical’ or assumed women were better suited for softer tasks. But I let my results speak – from better defect detection to improved test coverage, I showed my value”.
Nowadays, Ivelina serves as a mentor to other women in tech, helping them navigate the same barriers and build confidence in their roles.
Ivelina’s time at MWS
Reflecting on her time at MWS, Ivelina highlights the flexibility and opportunities to broaden her own professional skill set through both “challenging projects and supportive mentorship”. She mentions how the company’s flexibilities and “positive team culture” have made it possible for her to maintain a healthy work-life balance. “As a mother of a small child now, I can only thank the company for always supporting this not-always-easy journey”, Ivelina explains.
Overall, the company has been instrumental not only in sharpening my professional capabilities but also in ensuring I grow personally, which has made my journey here incredibly rewarding
A Look To The Future
Having been supported thus far, Ivelina is confident in the strong foundation she has built at MWS. In the coming years, she wishes to “build on that experience by diving deeper into advanced company projects and learning more about emerging technologies”. She also wishes to continue taking on leadership opportunities, helping mentor new team members and guide larger initiatives.
