In the dynamic world of tech, it’s rare to find someone whose growth story mirrors the evolution of a company itself. But Georgi Gurgutov’s 10-year journey at Mobile Wave Solutions (MWS) does just that- intertwining personal milestones with the company’s expanding footprint. As Georgi celebrates a decade of innovation, adaptability, and growth, we take a look back at the moments that shaped him – and us.
The First Chapter – A Hot June Day and New Beginnings
Can you take us back to your very first day at MWS?
“Yeah, it was a very hot day in June 2015,” Georgi recalls with a smile. “I had to travel for about an hour on a crowded bus 102. By the time I walked into the office, I was a bit sweaty, a little nervous, but mostly excited.
That nervousness didn’t last long. Familiar faces from a previous job helped ease the transition, and the warm welcome from the team made all the difference.”
“People were friendly, supportive. I couldn’t wait to dive into the new projects. They were different, challenging- and that’s exactly what I needed.”
What was your first role, and how did it feel stepping into it?
Georgi stepped in as a front-end developer, but with a twist. “I came from a Java and C# background, so writing code in JavaScript felt like learning a new dialect,” he laughs. “There were definitely a few swears in those early days.”
Still, the challenges fueled his drive. Supportive colleagues and a steep learning curve made it the perfect foundation for a decade of continuous growth.
Evolving with MWS – Adapt, Adapt, Adapt
How has your role evolved over the years?
Georgi’s technical evolution reads like a roadmap through modern development: from vanilla JavaScript to TypeScript, React, Redux, and on to React Native for cross-platform apps. But that was just the beginning.
Next came Kotlin for Android, Node.js and Express for backend APIs, MongoDB and PostgreSQL for databases, and even Serverless architecture on AWS. Most recently, Georgi has tackled containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
And in true 2025 fashion, he now makes use of AI tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to boost productivity – but with a human touch: “They’re useful, but you have to stay sharp. Review everything.”
What’s the secret to staying current?
“Never stop adapting. If you want to grow, you have to be ready to evolve – constantly.”
Growth with Support – Opportunities that Shape You
How has MWS supported your growth?
One defining moment came when Georgi expressed interest in backend development. “I told my manager, and instead of saying ‘maybe later,’ he gave me the green light – immediately. I was placed on a backend project even though my team would be one person short.”
The opportunity to work alongside experienced backend developers was transformative. “That kind of trust and encouragement? You don’t find it everywhere.”
Any projects that shaped you most?
Surprisingly, it wasn’t just the tech. “Working with people has been the biggest challenge- and the biggest growth area. Learning to communicate clearly, resolve conflicts, give and receive feedback -it’s all crucial.”
Moments That Matter – Lessons from the Journey
What are the most important lessons you’ve learned?
“Always challenge yourself. Step out of your comfort zone. That’s the only way to grow.”
This mantra has been Georgi’s north star throughout his career, guiding him through technical hurdles, leadership moments, and team dynamics.
Looking Back – and Ahead
What motivates you to show up every day- even after 10 years?
“The salary!” he jokes, before adding, “But seriously- what keeps me going is the satisfaction. The work challenges me, it helps me grow, and it’s never the same two days in a row. That’s what makes it fulfilling.”
What advice would you give to someone just starting here?
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Admit when you don’t know something. The team is incredibly supportive -it’s better to learn early and learn right. Also, be open to learning new technologies. This field moves fast – adaptability is everything.”
How would you describe MWS to someone thinking about joining?
“MWS is more than a workplace. It’s where you can build a long-term career, constantly learn, and work with people who genuinely care. If you’re ready to grow, this is the place.”
The Journey Continues
From that hot June day on a crowded bus to leading projects across platforms and technologies, Georgi’s story is one of relentless growth, curiosity, and adaptability. And after ten years, he’s still moving forward- still learning, still building, still growing.
