By consolidating logic into a single repository, the team minimised duplication and laid the groundwork for faster updates as new pay rules or allowances arose.

A second service focused on sending invoices and corresponding financial details to the organisation’s accounting platform. Through the use of parallel request handling, invoice processing reached speeds quadruple those of the legacy solution. Additionally, the development group devised a secure payment-processing pipeline capable of handling real-time transfer requests. This pipeline enforced data protection standards by obfuscating personal information, alongside automated alerts that notified administrators when account balances dropped below set thresholds.

Another solution tracked orders for welcome kits, badges, and other fulfilment items. Although not fully active at the time of launch, this service was designed with proactive alerting to address possible discrepancies in order data, ensuring that lost items or missed shipments would be minimised. All services leveraged Java-based microservices deployed in a containerised environment on AWS, with robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and maintain quality.
